Launched in Mid-July 2006, Africa Gap Year Ltd is the brainchild of Johann du Toit, a Kenyan who has spent much of his life travelling in Africa, particularly East Africa. Whether with high paying clients or with gap year students, Johann developed a passion for helping people see Africa from a more local perspective. He started this website with gap year students in mind, after realizing that little existed on the internet in terms of a comprehensive summary of information for such travellers.
The Gap Year industry is one of the world’s fastest growing forms of tourism, and information tends to be scattered on what is available in order to make the experience a successful one. The Africa Gap Year website was created in order to fill this niche.
Being more a ‘bush’ man than a city dweller and therefore more comfortable with less complicated technology, Johann has designed the site in a manner that he feels is simple and straightforward to use and therefore will appeal to even those who find the internet daunting.
